You can find a match at any time, but ideally you will have confirmed a match and be in the planning phase with an organization about a week before your secondment start date. When you have the first scoping call with an organization you’ve been mutually introduced to, make sure to communicate your availability to the organization representative, including when you can start and when you will finish the project, so that they can plan accordingly.
In some cases, matches happen after the secondment start date has already passed. If that’s the case for you, be sure to communicate to the host organization representative how much time you have left to dedicate to the project so that the scope can be adjusted accordingly.
